In our parish, we planned to install a screen for projecting texts during the liturgy. Currently, projection is a trend that enables more people to actively participate in singing. After a short market research and a visit to a few parishes with installed projection, we found that there are several commercial solutions of different quality that require additional devices. We emphasized selecting a simple, minimalist solution without unnecessary complicated control devices, the ability for wireless connection to the TV, one application for projecting texts of songs, the ability to create custom playlists, and more. We ended up choosing the free Just Chords app, which fulfilled all our requirements.
Setup
We purchased an LG 65″ TV with AirPlay support and used a donated iPhone 7 (iOS 15.0 or higher) for the app. We linked the TV and mobile phone via a Wifi router with internet access. Besides the mentioned criteria, we appreciated the app’s readability, simplicity of the interface, and the ability for users to see the entire text of the song while projecting. The fast response of the projection system, without expensive commercial solutions, the easy addition of new songs and playlist sharing, and the support and devotion of the Just Chords developer were also crucial factors.
