Folders

Contents

In JustChords there are two kinds of folders: regular Folders and Shared Folders.

Regular folders

A regular folder is a self-contained library of songs and setlists. Typical examples:

  • One folder with songs for Band A
  • Another folder with songs for Band B
  • A folder for a specific genre, theme or event

Open the folder icon at the top of the sidebar to switch folders. The list shows your Library (the default), Local Folders and Shared Folders; the current one is marked. Use Add Folder to create a new one, tap a folder to rename it or to delete it with Delete Folder. From the same screen you can Refresh and open Backup / Restore (see Storage and Backup).

Shared Folders

Shared Folders are also self-contained, but can be shared in their entirety. This means:

  • All songs and setlists inside that folder become accessible to other people with whom you share the link.
  • Other people can open the shared folder in JustChords (on Apple devices) or in the OpenSongApp (on Android) and import it into their app.
  • If someone makes changes to a shared folder, those changes can be synchronized via the collaboration mode so that everyone stays up to date.

Sharing a folder

  1. Open the folder's Folder sync screen and choose Share. JustChords uploads the folder and creates a link.
  2. As the owner choose whether others can make changes or can view only (read-only mode).
  3. Send the Share link to your band.

Synchronizing

  • Push (upload) sends your local changes to everyone. Pull (download) brings in the changes of others. JustChords tells you which one is needed.
  • In read-only mode you can pull but not push; use Skip Push to continue without sending.
  • Discard throws away your local changes and takes the shared version.
  • History lists the earlier versions of the folder. Pick one and Restore it to go back in time.
  • Compare & import appears when a shared setlist contains songs that are not in your library or differ from yours, so you can import them.
  • Stop sharing ends sharing; the folder becomes a local folder again.
