Setlists

Contents

The Setlists feature in JustChords lets you organize songs into ordered lists for a gig, rehearsal, service, or practice session. Instead of hunting for songs one by one during a performance, you prepare everything in advance and move through it hands-free.

Building a Setlist

Create a setlist from the Setlists list, or add songs to one from the song list with Add to setlist (you can create a new setlist right in that list). A setlist is an ordered collection of items of three kinds:

  • Songs – pulled from your library, in the order you want to play them. The same song can appear more than once.
  • Dividers – labels that group items into sections so a longer set stays readable. A divider can be left-aligned or centered, and can have a color.
  • Slides – a full page of text between songs, for example a welcome, an announcement, a prayer or a break. A slide has a name and can use text formatting and a Countdown (30 s, 1, 3, 5 or 10 min) – handy for a pre-service timer. Slides can also be projected (see Projection).

Use Divider / Slide to add them. Items can be reordered by dragging. In Edit setlist you can set the title, a description, an Event Date and a cover image.

Item actions

  • Move to Top / Move to Bottom, Remove from set and Edit are available on every item.
  • Shuffle randomizes the order of the songs.
  • Duplicate creates a copy of the whole setlist.

Per-Setlist Song Settings

A song's settings within a setlist are remembered independently, so the same song can be prepared differently for different occasions. Transpose, capo, song structure, notes and drawings apply only to this setlist and do not change the song in your library (see Capo & Transpose and Song Structure).

Performing from a Setlist

During a performance you move through the setlist in order, opening each song directly in the Song Viewer. Features such as Autoscroll, Audio Tracks, the Pad Player and pedal control work seamlessly as you advance through the list.

Tracking played songs

Open View Options and turn on Track Played Songs to mark songs as played during a setlist. A song is marked automatically after 10 seconds of being displayed. You can also use Mark Played / Mark Unplayed on a song, or Mark All Unplayed to reset. The played state is remembered until you reset it or turn tracking off. Show cover image in the same menu toggles the setlist image.

Managing setlists

  • Sort the setlist list by Date, Artist or Key, ascending or descending.
  • Select several setlists to delete, copy or move them to another folder.
  • Archive – archived setlists are kept in a separate list, out of the way of the active ones. Open it and choose Move to active playlists to bring one back.
  • Print to PDF prints the list of songs of a setlist (see Export and Print).
  • The sidebar can show widgets for Upcoming and Last Modified setlists (see Themes).

Sharing and Collaboration

Setlists can be printed or shared. Shared setlists support collaboration between multiple users, so a whole team can prepare and stay in sync with the same running order. To play live from one device to the whole band, use PlayTogether.
